Federal legislation passed in 1871 and 1878 provided War of 1812 veterans or their heirs pension benefits in addition to previously awarded bounty land grants. Index listings include the veteran's name; pension application and certificate numbers; bounty land warrant application number; and unit name and/or number. Since this source is only an index, when entries are located, copies of application files can be obtained from the National Archives in Washington, D. C., 20408.
